Simple. What do you like? Now take that and use it to your advantage. Meditation can be done in many ways. If you enjoy nature take a walk. If you enjoy surfing the internet do that. If you enjoy music, play your favorite songs. And while doing that let it envelope you and relax yourself.
Start by attending medidation classes. Hatha yoga should do.
Basic stuff is the same in most Eastern religions.
Crosslegged on the floor, back straight. Concentrate on breathing. It is important to have someone guide you on the first steps. This is to make sure you don’t get bad habits.
First, sit comfortably, on a chair, or simply fold your legs in the lotus position. Now inhale, take a deep breadth in, count till 8 (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8)and relax. Exhale, breathe out, count till 12 (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12) and relax.
Now take a short breadth, inhale, breathe in, count till 5 and relax. Exhale, breathe out, count till 10 and relax. Become aware of your breathing, take long and short breadths simultaneously. Repeat the process atleast 4 times.
Become aware of all the sensations in your body, asking yourself are you experiencing any form of pain or discomfort? Observe the sounds around you. Observe your mind. Let all the thoughts flow, come and go, whatever may be bothering you, whatever maybe making you tense. Simply observe your mind, letting go….
Finally, surrender all your worries on the almighty; the higher power/supreme being, whoever you have faith in. Ask God to take the ‘load’ of you, automically you will feel relaxed, rejuvenated and hopefully, open your eyes with a smile on your face.
Get comfortable (lie down if you like). Breathe deeply and slowly. Watch your thoughts float by like clouds in the sky, or ducks passing on a pond. Seek the emptiness. Note any images or words that come to you out of the nothingness of your empty mind. Wake up refreshed and grateful to be alive.

You could join a class or try this :

Whatever you do don’t empty your mind. I meditate on Jesus and what he’s don for me. believe me it really works
