How has Zen Buddhism affected its culture or identity?

Ok i dont know if that makes sense but maybe for example like zen buddhism has affected its culture cause now they do meditation and that is what they brought. ya know. kinda makes sense i think. i dont it came to mind to day in a discussion between me and a few friends. hope you cna help.

Zen developed in China but there is not much in Chinese culture today that would give you that impression. Perhaps it has influenced other far eastern countries like Japan a little more.
