Is meditation good for ADD? What else can help?

Amelie asked:
I have the inattentive type of ADD and love to meditate, but have stopped, because I worry that it will slow down my mind, and I need to speed it up. How do I do it? Should I meditate again, or are there games which can help? I also need to improve my concentration and memory. I don’t want to use medication, and am already addicted to coffee, maybe because it helps a bit! I’m just sick of not noticing, getting lost, forgetting, and I need to be on the ball in my job.

You should continue to meditate and stop your coffee addiction. You can’t focus because your brain hasn’t been trained to focus. You need to slow down your mind long enough to concentrate, rather than flitting around from 1 thing to another.
