Why is Christianity constantly stealing concepts and tools from other lifestyles and/or religions?

Meditation software
Espresso Kid asked:
Lately they have stolen the concept of meditation and turned it into something, which meditation never was. Why do christianity turn perfectly good concepts and tools into crap, and on top say, that “they always have had it and it is nothing new to christianity”? Don

Eh, they’ve done it for 2,000 years. Why should they stop now?

Presumably to attract people from those lifestyles and/or religions.

It’s part of the marketing. They have to try to make it appealing in order maintain popularity.

i don’t know what other things you are talking about but there has always been a contemplative tradition in Christianity as well as other religions. Actually there is hardly a religion without it. You need to read more.

I’m a Christian and I don’t meditate…and trust me I won’t steal your avatar…scary! It wouldn’t matter what we do, we will always be persecuted for our beliefs

Their reference guide is 2,000 years old they are unable to have a thought of their own, they have to steal…

with as many different religions and gods that man has had there is nothing that christianity could do that would be original-dont really thing you should hold that against them-its the whole god thing thats hard to swallow after that everything is just details—just my thoughts-smile and enjoy the day

And, if people “steal” concepts and tools from others how does that effect you?

Could it be because they don’t follow their bible ?

I thought atheist were by refering to Christians as fundies(spanish for butt) and fixating on unicorns.

Maybe cause all this Divinity stuff is real, and they just blend together?
So when Jesus went to the desert for 40 days to meditiate, that was a new concept? 2000 years ago?

There are “Christian” religions that incorporate “new age” concepts to gain more of a congregation. However by doing this- goes against what Christ taught.

A good idea has to belong to someone? Since when?
It’s a good idea not to hit your mother over the head with a pillow. It really is (unless of course you are in the middle of a pillow fight) just a bad idea, you’ll make her mad most likely.
So who first had that idea? Just because it’s a good one means I can’t do it because someone else thought of it first?
I actually have no idea what you mean by “concept of meditation and turned it into something”. Do you have a link to show? Meditation has been around for a long time, so? That means no one but the Budhist and Hindu can do it?
Btw, we are very satisfied with “what they(we) are”.
And oh, btw.2, the Bible does say to meditate on the word of God. So no, it’s not new to Christianity either.

Can you expand on that. Remember that Christianity was here before anyother religion therefore it is them who have coppied.

What’s worse is that they claim it to themselves and then condemn other people who aren’t Christians. For instance, they claim to have invented marriage, though it was around before Monotheism, and want to put rules on who can and can’t get married. Or, they steal holidays and complain with Atheists and other religions have celebrations the same day…
